Accountability Technologies: A Handbook on How Civil Society Organizations Can Use Technologies to Ensure Social Accountability
This handbook is a guide on how civil society organizations in West Africa can leverage technologies to ensure government transparency and accountability. It is comprised of case studies of nine civil society organizations using technologies to promote government accountability in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The author also uses the response from a survey of 23 civil society organization working in 12 countries in West Africa to put up guides and best practices that are included in this book. The book highlighted the metamorphosis of organizations like Odekro, Accountability Lab, Procurement Monitor, PenplusBytes, BudgIT, Network Movement for Democracy and Human Right, Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia and Connected Development (CODE). It further examines the role of technology in these civil society organizations as a pillar for the Open Government Partnership and Democracy in the region.
